Kindergarten classes at Juniata Valley Elementary School recently worked on service project. Students from Miss Joivell’s, Ms. Morrison’s, Mrs. Gahagan’s, and Mrs. Buchmann’s classes learned about being responsible pet owners, taking care of pets, and helping pets. The read stories, wrote sentences, and listened to a guest speaker from the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society (CPHS).

The 2010 Pet Calendars are available - and are they beautiful! The collection of professional pictures of local area pets gets better and better every year! This year's top fundraiser is once again, Karen & Brooke Smith's dog Katie, raising a whopping $ 2,300 to help our homeless animals. We anticipate raising about $ 11,000 with this project, but we can only do it with you help. You can help by buying a calendar! They make excellent holiday gifts as well!.

Calendars are $ 5.00 for CPHS members and $ 7.00 for non-members. They can be purchased at the Shelter, Fresh Bark Thrift Store, Brew Zoo, Chris's Hallmark (Pleasant Valley Shopping Center), Thompson's Pharmacy in Altoona and Hollidaysburg, Tyrone Herald, and several other locations.
