Surrendering A Pet
Part of being a responsible pet owner is committing to care for your pets for the duration of their life. However, if you are forced to give up your pet, the Central PA Humane Society encourages you to make every effort to find it a new home with a family member, friend, co-worker, or other caring person. Please exhaust all possible options before coming to the Humane Society.
In addition, if you are experiencing behavioral challenges with your animal, are moving to a place that is not pet friendly, or are facing financial issues that make it difficult to care for your pet, CPHS is here to help. We provide behavioral advice, lists of local pet-friendly housing, and low-cost clinics. Call the shelter at 814-942-5402.
In the event that no other options are available, please contact the Humane Society to make a surrender appointment. Acceptance of surrendered animals is dependant on space and cannot be guaranteed. Additionally, a surrender fee is required to help defray the cost of caring for the animal. Surrender fees are listed below.

$20.00 per animal - Litters
$5.00 per animal - Other Animals (rabbits, etc.)
$10.00 per animal - Out of County Animals
$50.00 extra
