About the event

March 17th 2020

Dear Easter Bunny,

I’m writing to you because I’m scared. No, I’m not scared for me, but for all of my fur baby friends at the shelter. My name is Molly (was Nerissa), and I know there’s a lot going on right now that’s keeping my friends from getting the things they need at the shelter.

You see about 3 months ago my family had thrown me out, and a kind soul found me and brought me to the shelter. As you can see in my picture (A), I was out on my own for a while. They said I was skin and bones. I only weighed 19 pounds! Not only that, but I had a heart murmur and was in Kidney failure. The kind Veterinarian and volunteers at the shelter tried to feed me 5 times a day. It took a while, but I finally started to eat. I had no energy to wag my tail, bark, play or even stand up on my own. They weren’t giving up on me! They gave me meds to help my appetite. Everyone at the shelter was given guidelines to feed me anything I would eat. Boy those hot dogs tasted good! (pic B)  Anyway, after about 2 ½ months in the shelter’s infirmary, I was up to 27 ½ pounds, and my heart murmur was gone. Unfortunately, my kidney tests are still coming back abnormal. The thing is though I’m feeling good and love to play now. I even have a big sister, Macey! The kidney test is $300, but my new family is determined to give me the love and support I need to ace that kidney test in time! I’m so happy! See that’s all of us in the picture (C) below, mom, dad, Macey and me.

That being said, I’m scared because all of the fundraising events, needed to help all of my friends at the shelter, are being cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic I here. Medications and Veterinarian bills are over $365,000 a year approximately. Where is this money going to come from? That’s where you come in Easter Bunny.  Could you ask everyone to donate? Even if everyone donated a small amount it would be a Great Help! It takes over $960,000 a year to run the shelter, I overheard the Humane Officer say. I want my friends to get the help they need to find a home and be happy like me too.

Please Easter Bunny will you help? Oh and btw, thank you for my early present, my family!

Happy Easter,     Molly
